After a warming up day on Wednesday, Thursday was the real first day of the festival.
With so many bands, on so many different stages, we had to make a plan. Of course the biggest bands were on the main stage, but it would have been a mistake to not walk around the other ones.
Let’s start with one of the most impressive and emotional concert I’ve ever had. Heilung. A band with members from Germany, Norway and Denmark. They call their style “Amplified History“. It’s Pagan, it’s brutal – there is sacrifices – and it’s about the Vikings.
It’s not a concert. It’s more than that. It’s an experience that shake your guts and speaks to your ancestral inner self and your soul. Like a spiritual pilgrimage.
It was kinda difficult to go back on my feet after this experience!
Then, heading to The Picturebooks, I never saw a guy hitting his drums that hard and with that much passion. It’s the second time I see them around here, and it’s always such a pleasure. They kick ass!
Running back to the Main Stage for Mastodon and Opeth. I love Mastodon, and it was even better than the first time I saw them.
First day is over. With an incredible art performance by Heilung. I think everybody will remember that day for the rest of their life.
