Time New Roman + Guest

Time New Roman, a collective inherently rebellious in its approach, daringly challenges the conventional art scene by choosing a venue that defies expectations. Instead of the typical pristine art gallery with clean, almost aseptic walls and polished floors, the exhibition unfolds within the unconventional setting of a former paint shop. The walls bear the marks of time, displaying a sense of decay, and objects are scattered haphazardly under plastic covers or simply left abandoned. It raises the intriguing question: are these elements intentional components of the exhibition, or remnants of the space’s past left untouched?

Regardless of the answer, the unconventional venue aligns perfectly with the essence of what an art exhibition should be – a seamless integration into its surroundings. Time New Roman, known for its disruptive events, chooses the historic confines of the Gdańsk Shipyard, a place laden with industrial history, as the backdrop for their artistic endeavors.

The Painting by Dawid Wojtalewicz

Amidst the eclectic mix of artworks, one painting left me truly stunned – a piece that exuded mystery and captivated my senses. This particular artwork, a little dark in its essence, drew me into its enigmatic narrative. What struck me most was the brilliant interplay of contrasts: the cold, almost haunting hues depicting the sea juxtaposed with the warm, orangish tones enveloping the character in the foreground.

This atmospheric painting, nestled within the unconventional surroundings of the former paint shop, spoke to me on a profound level. It wasn’t merely a visual feeling; it was an emotional journey. The artist’s ability to evoke such emotions through a play of colors and shades added a layer of depth to the overall exhibition experience.
