Australian metalcore outfit Future Static have released “Waterworks”, a new single that sees the Melbourne five piece return to their post hardcore roots. The track is taken from their second album, “Ornaments & Memories”, due out on 6 November 2026 via Wild Thing Records.
Driven by filthy riffs and frantic guitar work, “Waterworks” tackles self sabotage, panic attacks and emotional meltdowns. Vocalist Amariah Cook describes it as an outlet for a difficult period in her life, turning painful experiences into something she could finally let go of.
Vocalist Amariah Cook comments: “This song is from a time where I became completely tunnel-visioned, all I could see were the obstacles getting closer every time, and when I tried to steer away I’d just crash into another one. It eventuated into self-hatred, panic attacks, meltdowns, which impacted some of the people closest to me. I was too caught in the cycle to see the bigger picture. I unloaded exactly how I was feeling in ‘Waterworks’, and am grateful to have had somewhere to store all these awful feelings for a little while rather than lugging them around in my own body, and what better place than splayed over some filthy riffs and chugs.”
Following their 2023 debut “Liminality”, the new album promises a darker, more introspective side of the band.
