This Eternal Decay Announce Sixth Album, “Amigdala”

As you may know, I have a soft spot for music that drifts into the shadows. Dark, mysterious, dreamy, it is the kind of sound that can pull you into another world without warnings. That is exactly what caught my attention when I started listening to This Eternal Decay.

The Italian project, based in Rome features Riccardo Sabetti, Andrea Freda and Alessio Schiavi, the band build their music around electronic beats and melodies that often feel closer to a late night confession than a traditional rock song. There is a clear connection to the darker alternative scene, but their music also has a pulse that belongs on a dancefloor.

“Amigdala”, When The Past Comes Back

The band’s sixth album, “Amigdala”, will be released on 15 January 2027 via Swiss Dark Nights, with distribution by Audioglobe.

The title refers to the amygdala, a brain structure involved in emotional processing and memory. It provides the starting point for an album about old wounds and lost loves that refuse to stay in the past.

The CD and digital editions will feature 15 tracks, while the vinyl release will contain 11. The tracklist includes “The Echo”, “Broken Heart”, “Kiss Me I’m Dying” and “Violate”, alongside “Breathe In Silence”. The album also features collaborations with DarkWays on “Me, Myself And I” and Elisa Zoot on “Oceans”.

Visual artist RVS created the album artwork, reworking a photograph of model and muse Misty. The resulting image reflects the record’s interest in memory and the way the past can distort our perception of the present.

Preorders open on 4 December 2026, ahead of the album’s release in January.

Recently, I have been discovering quite a few bands I somehow managed to miss over the years, and This Eternal Decay are the latest addition to that list.
