Deathcrusher Tour 2015 – B90

An evening of legendary metal bands, Voivod, Napalm Death, Obituary and Carcass in a packed B90 for the Deathcrusher Tour 2015. It was cool to see the new generation of fans among the old time ones, in the same place, listening to what is considered amongst the best metal bands of the ’80s.

Metal is not dead. And never will.

The audience was loud and cheerful all night long. Jumping, shouting & slamming without getting bored or tired one single second. All bands were good, provoking a great response from all fans.

The evening starter with Herod. A very short gig – too short? – with a small attendance. Lots of people to get inside and just one line.

Then the big guns. With Voivod and their powerful and loud thrash for starter. Their dynamic music and stage presence with Snake always happy & smiling, the non-stop movements of the guitarist, the enthusiastic drummer, well. A perfect start and it didn’t take long for the audience to respond eagerly.

Napalm Death did they part. They did a cover of the Dead Kennedys – “Nazi Punks Fuck Off” but also promoted tunes from their brand new LP – “Apex Predator – Easy Meat”. As expected, the singer was running all over the stage. It’s a very engaged band with a political and antifascist message. Even if the actual line-up has nothing to do with the original one, they remain an institution in the genre and still stick to the original spirit of the band.

Came Obituary as a main. It’s when the audience started to get really wild by jumping into the pit, incessantly shouting “Obituary”, one of the best act that evening. Faster. Louder. Better.

An for dessert, la pièce-montée, Carcass, I personally loved them more than the other bands. For me THE best show of the evening. Really my type of music. A band from Liverpool that mostly plays heavy metal with some death inside. The moshpits kept going throughout this last show, and it is important to note that the security, while being busy evacuating the fans, didn’t loose their nerves. Actually they were so fair that it didn’t stop the same people to do it again and again… And also best lighting of the whole evening.

The only drawback that evening? It came from the food trucks. After half the evening, food was nearly all gone. 1500 fans, for a long sportive night, it’s cold, dark, people are drinking… And only 2 food trucks and not enough food to cater for everybody.
