I have said it before, and I will probably say it again, I love Varsovie. The band, not the city.
There is something in this band’s music that goes straight to the core of me. The darkness, the melancholy, the poetry, the sense of mystery, the guitars that seem to carry an entire fucking night on their shoulders. This is rock as I like it, emotional without becoming sentimental and dark without disappearing up its own arse.
I only wish I had discovered them earlier.
Living abroad for so many years has its disadvantages. You inevitably miss things happening around you, especially when it comes to the french scenes and bands. Varsovie are exactly the kind of band I would have wanted to discover years ago, but somehow they escaped my radar until much later.
Well, I am making up for lost time now.
Their new single, “Partout Les Chiens“, is another reason to look forward to “Notes Pour Plus Tard“, their forthcoming album due on 16 October 2026 via Icy Cold Records. Following “Treize Collines“, the new track confirms that Varsovie are continuing to explore that dark territory they have made so distinctly their own.
The lyrics of “Partout Les Chiens” carry that same feeling, with images that are strange, dark and open enough to leave you wondering exactly what is going on. And honestly, I like it that way. Not everything needs to be explained
The song itself has everything I have come to love about Varsovie, dark guitars, atmosphere, melancholy and that slightly uneasy feeling that something is lurking just beneath the surface.
“Partout Les Chiens” has only made me more impatient for “Notes Pour Plus Tard“. If these first two songs are anything to go by, we are in for another very good Varsovie record.
And yes, I am looking forward to it. A lot.
