Stephen Wilson Jr. And Eddie Vedder Revisit a Grunge Classic at Ohana Fest

At the 2026 Ohana Festival in California, Stephen Wilson Jr. was joined by Eddie Vedder for a special live performance of “Hunger Strike“, the iconic 1991 song originally recorded by Temple of the Dog.

With Eddie Vedder stepping back into a song he once shared with Chris Cornell, it’s hard not to feel a lump in the throat. For a moment, the ghosts of Seattle’s golden grunge years come wandering back. Stephen Wilson Jr. takes on Cornell‘s vocals, while Vedder slips into those familiar lines as if no time has passed. For a few minutes, it’s 1991 all over again. You can almost feel the years falling away. Cornell isn’t there, of course, and that’s precisely what makes this performance hit so hard. A little piece of Seattle history, brought back to life.

Released in 1991, “Hunger Strike” remains a powerful reminder of the musical connections between Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, and of Chris Cornell‘s lasting legacy.
