The grand finale of the Monsters Of Jazz tour is coming home. On 8 November, Gdańsk will host the last and most explosive stop of this radical project, at AmberExpo, during the Inside Seaside festival. Three uncompromising bands, Pink Freud, Nene Heroine, and Fish Basket, will show that Polish jazz in 2025 is alive, wild, and louder than ever.
Pink Freud: The Cult Band Returns To The Coast
There is no Monsters Of Jazz without Pink Freud. Born out of the Tricity scene, they’ve been rewriting the rules of Polish jazz for more than two decades. With Wojtek Mazolewski at the helm, the band fused punk, electronica, and improvisation long before it became fashionable. Their album “Sorry Music Polska”, reissued this October, remains a milestone of rebellion. In Gdańsk, expect the full power of a band that changed the sound of a generation.
Also hailing from Gdańsk, Nene Heroine are the new guardians of the city’s adventurous spirit. Their just-released album “4” is a journey through the four elements, channeled into hypnotic grooves, psychedelic textures, and golden-masked stage rituals. With singles like “Tokyo” and “Bowie“, they’ve proven that they are not afraid to cross borders. During Inside Seaside, they’ll bring that energy back to the city where it all began.
Joining the line-up is Fish Basket, the prog-jazz trio from Katowice. Their sprawling, hypnotic sound breaks away from standard forms, carried by a rhythm section that feels more like a storm. Their second record, “Fish Basket and His Second Album”, confirms their status as one of the boldest instrumental outfits in Poland. Gdańsk will be their final test in front of a massive festival audience.
For decades, the Tricity has been a breeding ground for musical rebellion, from punk in the 80s to experimental jazz in the 2000s. Hosting the finale of Monsters Of Jazz at Inside Seaside is no coincidence.
