Leipzig-based cold wave trio Mantarochen is set to release their debut album, “Cut My Brainhair” on March 7, 2025, through It’s Eleven Records. Following their 2024 mini-album “In The Badgers Cave” the band continues to refine their distinctive sound.
“Cut My Brainhair” comprises eight tracks, including the introductory piece “Delta (Intro)” and songs like “Not a Rabbit“, “Steamy Nights“, and the title track “Cut My Brainhair“. The album will be available in both digital and limited-edition cassette formats, with only 100 cassettes produced. Pre-orders are currently open on It’s Eleven Records‘ Bandcamp page.
Mantarochen‘s music is characterized by a driving rhythm machine, fuzzed-out guitar riffs, and a warm bass foundation, all enveloped in synthetic textures reminiscent of early ’80s cold wave. Their sound has been described as “a stripped-down, spiky and sharp guitar-driven Post-Punk sound, in the 80s NDW tradition of X-Mal Deutschland and Abwärts“.
The band members – Diana (synth, vocals), Sebi (guitar), and Tammi (bass) – share a deep-rooted friendship and a passion for music that traces back to their teenage years spent skateboarding. Their creative journey is driven by the simple joy of making music, resulting in tracks that capture their collective emotions in real-time.
“Cut My Brainhair” is poised to be a significant addition to the cold wave and post-punk scene, offering listeners a blend of nostalgic sounds and contemporary energy.
