If you have ever felt like your soul was being dismantled by a cello and then reconstructed by a man who hits notes only dogs and depressed angels can hear, then you already know Leprous. These Norwegians are like a high pressure weather system. On February 10, they descend upon B90 in Gdańsk to remind us that progressive music does not have to be a boring maths lecture. It can be a bleeding, screaming, beautiful mess of raw nerves.
This is the “European Tour Part 2“, following the devastation of their “Melodies Of Atonement” era. We are talking about a group that has spent two decades evolving from technical metal wizards into something far more dangerous: a band that is actually honest. There is no hiding behind orchestral fluff anymore. The new material is lean, mean, and heavy as a lead coffin.
A Masterclass In Emotional Violence
The setlist is likely to be a brutal journey through their latest triumphs and those legacy tracks that make you want to stare into the Baltic Sea until you dissolve. Expect the jagged, syncopated heart of “Silently Walking Alone” and the sheer vocal gymnastics of “The Price”. Einar Solberg exorcises demons in real time while the rest of the band, led by the rhythmic obsession of drummer Baard Kolstad, creates a beat that is as precise as a surgeon’s scalpel and twice as sharp.
Supporting the chaos are Ihlo and Crystal Horizon, two bands that actually understand the assignment. They are there to prime your ears for the main event, not just fill space. Crystal Horizon brings that shimmering, atmospheric Norwegian depth, while Ihlo provides the kind of complex, heavy hooks that prove the UK still knows how to build a proper wall of sound.
Gdańsk in February is a grey, biting landscape, which is exactly the right atmosphere for this kind of musical ritual. B90 is the perfect industrial cathedral for a band that thrives on shadows and strobe lights. This is not a concert for the casual listener who wants a catchy chorus to hum on the bus ride home. This is for the obsessives, the dreamers, and the people who know that the best music is the kind that makes you feel slightly uncomfortable before it sets you free.
Do not wait for the day of the show to find your courage. Tickets are moving, and when the lights go down and that first synth pulse hits, you will either be in the room or left out in the cold with nothing but your regrets.
