Chet Faker Returns to Gdańsk with a Night of Intimate Energy

It has been more than a decade since Chet Faker, the Australian musician known for blending electronic sound with soulful emotion, first captured international attention. After several years performing under his real name, Nick Murphy, he has now fully returned to the stage as Chet Faker. His latest single, “Inefficient Love”, hints that a new album may be on the way.

Last Saturday, he performed a sold-out concert at B90 in Gdańsk. The venue, known for its raw industrial interior, was filled to capacity. The crowd packed tightly into the concrete space.

The show opened with a minimalist setup. Chet Faker sat behind his keyboard, building layers of sound through loops and subtle rhythms. Songs like “No Advice” and “Release Your Problems” filled the room with warmth and restraint. Each note and pause felt carefully measured. His concentration and the quiet lighting turned the first part of the performance into something intimate, almost meditative.

As the set developed, the mood shifted. The familiar bassline of “Drop the Game” brought movement to the crowd, turning the room into a single, rhythmic pulse. Later, “Inefficient Love” stood out as a highlight, soft, emotional, and stripped down.

For the encore, he returned with two of his most iconic songs, “Talk Is Cheap” and “Gold”. Both pieces brought the concert to a confident and nostalgic close. The audience swayed together, lost in the steady rhythm that has become his signature.

The concert showed how naturally he connects his early sound with his newer work. The warm, organic style of “Built on Glass” blended seamlessly with the more refined and mature production of his recent songs. The performance revealed an artist who has evolved but remains deeply connected to his origins.

Chet Faker’s minimalist approach continues to define his live shows. Performing mostly alone or with limited accompaniment, he relies on precision and emotion rather than spectacle. This simplicity keeps the focus on the sound itself, deliberate, layered, and authentic.
