French genre-wreckers TSS are back, fusing emo, metalcore, and synthwave into their heaviest release yet. Their highly anticipated new album, “END OF TIME“, is set to drop on June 27 via Fearless Records. To give fans a taste of what’s coming, they’ve just released their explosive new single, “Something In the Way“.
“Something In the Way” is an emotional gut punch. Sung in both English and French, the song tells the devastating story of someone watching a loved one slip into depression, powerless to help. The band describes the song’s progression as a descent into chaos, starting with a drum ‘n’ bass beat before spiraling into an intense storm of guitars, screams, and synths. By the time the song reaches its final, crushing breakdown – the heaviest TSS has ever written – it leaves you breathless.
“We love ending our live shows with this track because it has everything—jumping, dancing, headbanging, and the wildest wall-of-death moments“, the band explains. If you’ve ever been to a TSS show, you know exactly what they mean.
TSS started making noise back in 2017 with their debut single “The Wrong Way“, but things really took off when they opened for Asking Alexandria in Paris a year later. Their early releases blended synthwave with emo, but over time, they began pushing their sound into heavier territory. Tracks like “Fantasize“, which mixed alternative rock, J-rock, phonk, and metal, racked up millions of Spotify streams, while “Tes Pleurs” (2023) took inspiration from Bring Me The Horizon and Poppy, introducing a modern metalcore edge to their sound.
By the end of 2023, their single “Would You Be My Therapy?” had topped the iTunes rock charts, attracting attention from major labels. That momentum led them to sign with Fearless Records in 2024, setting the stage for their biggest release yet.
