With their long-awaited debut album “The First Exit” released today September 20, 2024, Tramhaus is poised to solidify their place in the postpunk world. Their album captures the same intense energy that left me spellbound when I first listened to them. Clocking in at just over thirty minutes, The First Exit delivers on every front. It’s an explosive declaration that Tramhaus is here to stay.
Their music hit me like a rush of adrenaline, full of raw energy, emotion, and excitement. Their sound feels like the perfect soundtrack to a drag race of emotions, with no room to lean back as they sweep you into their world of relentless euphoria. This was the energy I felt as I played the album on my way to photograph the Gdynia RockZ festival.
Tramhaus is a band known for their raucous live shows, and I can already imagine the thrill of seeing them on stage. Their debut album, recorded in an old converted bulb shed at Katzwijm Studios in the southern Netherlands, manages to capture that same energy. The studio’s intimate setting allowed them to retain the immediacy and spontaneity of a live performance while also refining their sound. The result is an album that crackles with raw intensity – just like their shows.
