The wait is finally over, The Rasmus are returning to Poland, and this time they’re coming with a message. On 13 November, Warsaw’s legendary Stodoła will host the Finnish rock icons as part of their “Weirdo Tour”, a massive European trek celebrating the release of their 11th studio album “Weirdo“.
The band, best known worldwide for the haunting “In the Shadows“, have built a career out of mixing shadowy, gothic atmospheres with radio-ready hooks. But “Weirdo“, released today via Better Noise Music and Playground Music, is a manifesto. Frontman Lauri Ylönen explains it best: “I’ve always felt like an outsider. I’ve been called a weirdo, misfit and freak. That used to make me angry – but not anymore. It’s become my source of strength and confidence. We, the Weirdos, unite.”
The new album explores the themes of that philosophy. Songs like “Rest In Pieces“, “Creatures of Chaos“ and the title track “Weirdo“ combine stadium-sized guitar riffs with pop sensibilities, proving once again why The Rasmus remain Finland’s most successful rock export. The fact that “Weirdo“ was written with legendary hitmakers Desmond Child (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith) and Marti Fredriksen (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne) only adds to its firepower.
For Warsaw fans, the highlight will no doubt be hearing “Weirdo“ live, complete with a guest appearance from Lee Jennings of The Funeral Portrait, who joins both the single and the tour. Jennings calls the song “an anthem for the outcasts”, and there could hardly be a better setting than Klub Stodoła, one of Poland’s great rock venues, for that rallying cry to come alive.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a The Rasmus show without the classics. Expect a setlist that balances new material with fan favourites like “In the Shadows“, “Guilty“ and “Livin’ in a World Without You“. After headlining Atlas Festival in Ukraine earlier this year, playing to over 110,000 people, the band have proven they still know how to command both massive festival crowds and intimate club stages. Warsaw will get that same energy, but up close and personal.
With the band currently topping Spotify, YouTube and Instagram rankings in their native Finland, their international reach shows no signs of slowing. Nearly three decades since their debut, they remain as vital, unpredictable, and committed to their fans as ever.
Tickets are on sale now. Warsaw, get ready. The Weirdos are coming, and they want you to join them.
