I have always cherished The Mission. I am a fan, and particularly of the band’s early years, when albums such as “God’s Own Medicine”, “Children” and “Carved In Sand” established that particular mixture of dark atmosphere, powerful guitars, melancholy and enormous emotional weight that made the band so important to so many of us.
So yes, I was genuinely very excited to see the 2027 tour announcement.
And there is an even better reason to be excited. The Mission are not simply returning to Europe to replay the past. The tour will support a new studio album, expected in autumn or winter 2026.
The Mission European Tour 2027
Dates are stretching from Spain and Portugal through Central Europe and Scandinavia, before finishing in France in October.
The first European leg begins in Spain in April, before moving through Portugal, Spain, Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Hungary.
The second part of the tour begins in September, taking The Mission north before bringing them back through Germany and Poland and eventually to Paris.
It is already a substantial European run, with the possibility that further dates could still be added.
The Mission Return To Poland
For Polish fans, the important date is 8 October 2027, when The Mission return to Warsaw for a concert at Proxima. Tickets go on general sale on 3 September 2026 at 11:00 CEST.
The Warsaw concert is part of the tour supporting the band’s forthcoming new album. The concerts are expected to combine material from the new record with selected songs from the band’s extensive catalogue.
There is also a nice piece of history attached to the return. The Mission had previously planned to play Warsaw during their 2020 European tour, but those plans were ultimately derailed by the pandemic. Seven years later, Warsaw finally gets another chance.
A New Chapter
The new album is perhaps the most intriguing part of all this.
The band’s last studio album, “Another Fall From Grace”, was released in 2016. Now, almost a decade later, The Mission are preparing to put new music into the world and take it on the road.
I have no idea yet what the new record will sound like, and I am perfectly happy to wait before making any grand predictions. What I do know is that I will be very curious to hear it. Because for me, The Mission are not just another band from the great wave of British alternative music that emerged in the 1980s. Their early records became part of the soundtrack of a particular time, and they have stayed with me.
The current line up features Wayne Hussey on vocals and guitar, Craig Adams on bass, Simon Hinkler on guitar and Alex Baum on drums.
