On June 24th, Sting brought his “STING 3.0” tour to the beautiful, green setting of Sopot’s Opera Leśna. There was no massive stage production, just three musicians stepping out under the trees.
The night kicked off immediately with “Message in a Bottle“. Starting with such a fast, recognizable track instantly set the tone and left everyone with a sharpened appetite for the rest of the musical menu. Fans certainly had no reason to complain, as the concert was packed with his greatest hits.
The crowd got to hear classics like “Fields of Gold“, “Shape of My Heart“, “Englishman in New York“, and “Every Breath You Take“. Instead of playing them exactly like the records, the three-piece band gave them entirely new arrangements. This format satisfied the need to hear these favorite tracks while simultaneously delivering a positive surprise and genuine excitement. Among them, “Desert Rose” sounded incredibly beautiful.
Throughout the show, you could really feel the mixed energy of rock, punk, reggae, and the long history of both Sting and The Police. Sting kept things light, talking with the crowd and playing around with vocal lines for the audience to repeat back to the stage. The encores brought a sharp shift in the mood.
During “Roxanne“, the deep bassline practically invited everyone to sway and groove. But the moment Sting picked up his acoustic guitar for “Fragile“, everything changed. The entire Opera Leśna fell completely quiet. It felt as if a sudden wave of quiet reflection, intense focus, and a deep kind of sensitivity, wrapped in total silence, passed through the crowd. It was a truly beautiful experience.
If you didn’t have the chance to be there, you might be interested to know that the tour has been documented on the album STING 3.0 LIVE. It is available digitally, on CD, and on 180g vinyl. The album features a collection of the artist’s biggest hits, including “Be Still My Beating Heart“, which has never been released as a live version before. The ten-track digital edition also includes a live recording of his 1987 track, “Fragile“.
