Seal. Thirty-five years into a career that rewrote the rules of soul, pop and R&B, the man born Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel is coming to Opera Leśna this July.
The 2026 “Celebrating 30+ Years of the Classic Albums I & II” tour is exactly what it sounds like: a full-scale return to the two records that made him untouchable. Four Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards, one MTV VMA, over 30 million albums sold worldwide and more than a billion streams. Numbers that tell part of the story. The voice tells the rest.
“Crazy” announced him in 1991 as something the British house scene had never quite produced before: a singer with the emotional range of a gospel preacher and the instincts of a pop architect. “Killer“, his breakthrough with Adamski a year earlier, had already planted the flag. Then came “Seal II” in 1994, the quadruple platinum masterpiece that Stereogum once described as a radio wave from a much more beautiful planet. “Kiss From A Rose” alone took home three Grammys: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. That doesn’t happen by accident.
What makes Seal more than a hitmaker is the breadth of his presence in culture. He appeared in films by Spike Lee and Joel Schumacher. Alanis Morissette, Bastille and George Michael all covered his songs. He has shared studios with Jeff Beck, Joni Mitchell, Carlos Santana, P!nk and John Legend. His 2019 covers record “Standards” earned a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. This is an artist whose influence runs quietly through four decades of popular music.
This is not nostalgia for its own sake. A concert film documenting the 2024 anniversary run, “Purpose: Celebrating 30 Years of the Classic Albums Seal I and Seal II“, was released in February 2026, with longtime collaborator Trevor Horn serving as musical director. Seal described the experience as rediscovering his purpose. You hear it in every account of these shows.
“Crazy“. “Killer“. “Prayer for the Dying“. “Kiss From A Rose“. Songs that somehow still sound like they arrived from a different, better planet.
Seal plays Opera Leśna on 26 July 2026. This one will not be easy to forget.
