Rediscover the Power of Listening with “Open Your Ears” Workshop during Brasswood

The Audionomia Foundation is excited to invite you to our upcoming “Open Your Ears” workshops, a part of the Brasswood program. These workshops are designed to highlight the essential role of hearing in our daily lives, often overshadowed by our reliance on visual perception. Join us on August 3rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Goyki 3 Art Incubator for an immersive experience led by Magdalena Świerczyńska-Dolot and Kinga Sygizman, both esteemed speakers associated with our foundation.

Why Hearing Matters

Hearing is the first sense we develop, starting in the womb, and it plays a crucial role in how we perceive and interact with the world. However, after birth, we tend to prioritize sight, often neglecting the rich and nuanced world of sound around us. The Audionomia Foundation aims to shift this perspective, emphasizing the importance of sound education and the practice of deep listening. Through our workshops, we hope to foster a greater appreciation for auditory experiences and their impact on our lives.

Workshop Overview

The “Open Your Ears” workshop is divided into two engaging sessions:

  1. Exploring Sound and Emotion: In the first part, we will discuss various sounds that hold significance in our lives, those that evoke emotions ranging from anxiety to security. We will engage in exercises designed to enhance your awareness of the importance of attentive listening and its role in emotional well-being.
  2. Sound Walk: The second part of the workshop involves a guided sound walk around the vicinity of Goyka in Sopot. This experiential activity will allow participants to practice deep listening, paying close attention to the natural and urban soundscapes around them.

Brasswood invite you to take part in this unique opportunity to reconnect with the world through sound. To sign up for the “Open Your Ears” workshop, visit this link.

Event Coordination and Vision

The workshop is part of the “Regeneration of the Senses” series at Brasswood Fest, coordinated by Marta Szadowiak, the originator of this initiative. Through these sessions, Brasswood aim to promote a holistic approach to sensory perception, encouraging participants to engage more fully with their auditory environment.
