Los Angeles punk band Niis have released “No Flowers”, the second single from their forthcoming EP “Play Niis”, due 23 October via Rise Records. The track arrives alongside an official music video directed and edited by Marië Ramos.
“No Flowers” comes at you with jagged guitars, distortion and the raw intensity that has become central to Niis, while vocalist Mimi Doe delivers a simple but powerful message, “I just wanna feel alive”. The song is about the feeling of being trapped in everyday routine and the need to find something that cuts through the monotony.
“A lot of the songs on this record are about fitting into societal monotony”, Doe explains. “We forget to put ourselves first by doing things that bring us joy and make us feel something, or anything”.
Formed in Los Angeles in 2020 by Doe and guitarist Ryan McGuffin, Niis have built a reputation around confrontational punk that mixes abrasive guitars, noise and a strong sense of urgency. The band released “Not Niis” in 2020, followed by “Must Be…” in 2022 and their debut album “Niis World” in 2025.
Now joined by bassist Isabella de Vroede and drummer Jonathan Salvo, Niis are entering a new chapter with “Play Niis”, their debut release for Rise Records. Produced by Austin Coupe and Michael Shuman, the six song EP explores heartbreak, upheaval, uncertainty and the search for human connection, while bringing more melody and vulnerability into the band’s sound.
“No Flowers” follows “Earthquakes”, released earlier this month, and offers another glimpse of a band expanding their palette without leaving their punk instincts at the door.
“Play Niis” will be released on 23 October via Rise Records.
