Mongolian metal band The HU has once again thrilled their fans with a powerful new release – a cover of Iron Maiden’s iconic track, “The Trooper“. The band dropped this special tribute to the metal legends as they embark on a monumental tour, serving as the opening act for Iron Maiden’s Future Past North American arena tour. This cover puts a unique, Mongolian spin on the beloved classic, combining their signature Hunnu Rock sound – characterized by traditional throat singing and traditional instruments like the Morin Khuur – with Iron Maiden’s electrifying energy.
The HU’s version of “The Trooper” is an intersting fusion of cultures, reflecting the band’s mission to bring Mongolian music to the global stage. Founding member Gala expressed the group’s excitement, calling the tour a major milestone for the Mongolian music industry. “For us, this tour represents an important step towards the world stage”, he shared. The release of “The Trooper” highlights the deep respect the band has for Iron Maiden and serves as a thank you to their fans ahead of the tour.
This cover release is part of a larger, incredibly busy year for The HU. They recently shared a live recording of their Glastonbury Festival performance, an event that showcased their global appeal. The band, known for their 2019 breakout album “The Gereg” and the 2022 follow-up “Rumble of Thunder“, continues to gain international recognition, with over 830 million streams across platforms and #1 charting albums.
At We Shoot Music, we’ve had the pleasure of photographing The HU twice, and each time their performances have left us in admiration. The band’s energy, coupled with their unique fusion of Mongolian folk and heavy rock, always delivers an unforgettable experience.
