The Manic Street Preachers have revealed their 15th album, “Critical Thinking“, set for release on January 31, 2025. Known for exploring contradictions, bassist and lyricist Nicky Wire describes the record as “a record of opposites colliding“, where introspective themes are met with “euphoric” sounds. “Critical Thinking” includes the single “Decline & Fall” and a new track, “Hiding in Plain Sight”, which is unique in featuring Wire on lead vocals for the first time
This latest project reflects the band’s shift towards a more instinctual approach. Recorded in sessions at their Caerleon studio, the album evolved over two years of sporadic recording, with some parts played live as a band and others individually, highlighting the creative blend of spontaneity and reflection. The record was produced with longtime collaborators Dave Eringa and Loz Williams, adding layers of polish and energy to its sound.
To support” Critical Thinking“, the band has announced a spring 2025 UK tour, kicking off in Glasgow and covering major cities including London and Manchester. Tickets go on sale to the general public on November 1, with pre-sale access for album pre-orders starting October 30
