Bay Area metal icons Machine Head have officially announced their eleventh studio album, “Unatøned“, set for release on April 25, 2025, via Nuclear Blast X Imperium Recordings. This album marks the recording debut of guitarist Reece Scruggs, formerly of Havok. The production was led by frontman Robb Flynn, with engineering by Zack Ohren and mixing and mastering by Colin Richardson and Chris Clancy. The album’s artwork, crafted by Spiros Antoniou (also known as Seth Siro Anton), the vocalist and bassist of Septicflesh, continues the visual legacy he established with the cover for “Of Kingdom And Crown“.
To coincide with the album announcement, Machine Head have unveiled the lead single, “Unbøund”, accompanied by an electrifying music video directed by Mike Sloat. The track exemplifies the band’s signature blend of aggressive riffs and melodic undertones, offering a glimpse into the thematic depth of “Unatøned“.
In a statement, the band described the album as “a testament to momentum, an album honed to its sharpest edge, forged on creative discipline and the hunger to push forward“‘ They further elaborated that it “drips with melancholy melodies, yet hammers with bludgeoning riffs, soars with anthemic sing-a-longs of love-lost and sadness, to bellowing power and undeniable confidence“.
“Unatøned“ follows their 2022 release, “Øf Kingdøm and Crøwn“, and continues the band’s tradition of evolving their sound while staying true to their metal roots. Pre-orders for the album are now available, with options including limited edition coloured vinyl and CDs.
