Knocked Loose have finally unleashed “Hive Mind“, a new single and music video that drags rap and hardcore into the same pit and lets them swing. The track features Denzel Curry, a self-confessed student of hardcore and metal who already rattled cages back in 2019 with his cover of Rage Against The Machine’s “Bulls On Parade“. This isn’t some cynical crossover stunt; it feels like the rare rock/rap collision that actually hits harder than the sum of its parts.
“Hive Mind” lands as the first new music from Knocked Loose following their previous releases, and you can feel the band leaning into their status as a preeminent contemporary heavy band. They’re not softening a thing to make room for Curry, they’re dragging him into their world, and he sounds completely at home in the chaos.
The video, directed by Eric Richter alongside Knocked Loose vocalist Bryan Garris, keeps it rooted in something real: filmed in the band’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky at the iconic skate spot David Armstrong Extreme Park. It’s a setting that fits the band’s serrated energy – concrete, speed, and nowhere to hide.
Garris admits this collaboration has been a long time coming: “This is something we’ve talked about doing for a long time. We wondered if we could pull it off and who would be down. In the very beginning, we said for it to work, it would have to be Denzel Curry. Because he gets it“. That’s the key here: Curry understands the language Knocked Loose speak, and Hive Mind sounds like the proof.
Knocked Loose are also set to support Metallica on European dates, taking this new chapter in their sound straight into the stadium metal lion’s den.
