Australian psych rock explorers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are heading back to Europe in June 2027, bringing a nine date run of headline shows across the continent and the UK. With stops in France, Italy, Belgium and Britain, the tour offers another chance to experience one of the most restless and unpredictable bands in contemporary rock.

The journey follows their scheduled appearance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, before moving to Toulouse on 8 June. From there, the band will travel through Lyon, Bologna, Antwerp and Paris before crossing the Channel for three UK dates in London, Manchester and Bristol. The final show, at Bristol Sounds, will be a special outdoor headline performance at Canons Marsh Amphitheatre.

Six Musicians, Countless Musical Detours

Trying to pin King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard down to a single genre is a losing game. The Melbourne six piece have built their reputation by treating musical boundaries as suggestions rather than rules. Psychedelic rock, garage rock, progressive metal, folk, jazz and electronic music have all found their way into a catalogue that refuses to sit still.

Their relentless creative output has made them a phenomenon in their own right. Rather than spending years polishing one particular sound, the band continually shifts direction, challenging their audience to keep up. One record can plunge into heavy, riff driven territory, while another takes a sharp turn towards synthesizers, dance rhythms or intricate psychedelic arrangements.

Their recent album, “Alien Meta”, released in August 2026, adds another chapter to that constantly changing story. Whatever direction the band chooses next, their live performances remain the place where their musical experiments can take on a life of their own.

The current line up features Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood and Michael Cavanagh. Together, they have created a musical universe that continues to expand, with a dedicated international following drawn to the sheer unpredictability of the project.

From Intimate Venues To Open Air Stages

The 2027 itinerary takes the band through a mixture of established concert halls and outdoor settings. Antwerp gets two consecutive nights at OLT Rivierenhof, while London welcomes the group to Eventim Apollo on 20 June. Manchester follows on 22 June at BEC Arena, before Bristol closes the announced run on 23 June.

The Bristol Sounds performance is particularly notable. The 5,000 capacity outdoor show is expected to be one of the band’s biggest outdoor headline appearances to date, bringing their expansive sound to the city’s harbourside.

For a group whose music can move from hypnotic repetition to crushing riffs and electronic experimentation, the prospect of hearing that catalogue unfold across a summer evening is reason enough to pay attention.

The band is also scheduled to appear at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, which takes place from 2 to 6 June 2027. Their specific festival performance date should be checked against the festival’s programme.

For fans of adventurous rock, this is one European tour to put on the calendar.
