Twenty-six years ago, Kayah and Goran Bregović released a record that did exactly that, and on 30 July 2026, they are bringing it back to Opera Leśna in Sopot for one night that will feel less like a concert and more like a collective memory coming to life.
“Kayah & Bregović” was a phenomenon by any measure. Over 700,000 copies sold in Poland alone, diamond certification, three Fryderyk Awards including Album of the Year. It took the pop sensibility of one of Poland’s most distinctive voices and collided it with Bregović‘s Balkan fire, Romani rhythms and cinematic grandeur. The result was something that had no real precedent on the Polish market and has never been properly replicated since.
The Sopot date is part of “Huczne Poprawiny 2026“, a five-city open-air tour spanning Opole, Kielce, Warsaw, Sopot and Koszalin. The lineup assembled around the two headliners is genuinely spectacular. A Balkan orchestra. Highland musicians from Podhale bringing their wild fiddles and vocals. Bulgarian vocalists Ludmiła and Daniela Radkowa, whose layered polyphonic singing is a world unto itself. And Iwona Zasuwa, Kayah‘s longtime collaborator, whose voice has been quietly essential to these shows for years.
Expect “Prawy do Lewego“, “Byłam Różą“, “Śpij, Kochanie, Śpij“, the songs that a generation of Polish listeners grew up with, now delivered in a midsummer forest amphitheatre with a full Balkan orchestra at full volume. The Opera Leśna stage was built for exactly this kind of controlled chaos.
Kayah remains one of the most versatile and emotionally direct performers in Polish music, equally at home in intimate folk arrangements and full-scale pop production. Goran Bregović is simply one of the most compelling composers working anywhere in Europe, a man whose music carries the dust of the Balkans and the electricity of the best rock shows you have ever seen.
