JOHN PORTER CELEBRATES 45 YEARS OF “HELICOPTERS”

Location: Stary Maneż, Gdańsk
Date: 11/11/2025
Organizer: Klub Stodoła, Adapter

This November, Gdańsk will echo with the unmistakable sound of Polish rock history. John Porter, one of the most respected and influential figures in the country’s music scene, returns to the stage at Stary Maneż on 11 November 2025 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album “Helicopters”.

When Porter recorded Helicopters with Porter Band in just four days back in 1980, few could have predicted the seismic impact it would have. The record became a cornerstone of Polish rock, hailed as Album of the Year and inspiring generations of musicians who followed. Now, four and a half decades later, fans will get the chance to experience this material live, performed with the same fire and authenticity that made it legendary.

Expect more than just nostalgia. This is a celebration of artistry, rebellion, and timeless songwriting. Porter has never been a man to stand still, his collaborations with Kora, Marek Jackowski, Anita Lipnicka, or even Nergal show just how wide his musical spectrum is. But Helicopters remains the foundation stone, the raw rock manifesto that still matters.

On stage, Porter will be joined by an outstanding band:

  • John Porter – vocals, guitars
  • Krzysztof Łochowicz – guitars
  • Jacek Szafraniec – bass
  • Robert Rasz – drums

Behind the sound and light, Kuba Sosulski (sound engineer) and Robert Bernat (lighting engineer) will make sure this anniversary show hits with full force.

For fans of Polish rock, this will be a chance to reconnect with the roots of the scene, to feel the electricity of songs that shaped a generation, and to see a true poet and rocker who still plays with passion.
