Hatari – 16/10/2022 – Shakespeare Theater, Gdańsk

As they write about themselves, they constitute an “anti-capitalist, techno-dystopian artistic collective”.
Internationally, they are known as the “industrial BDSM band”. Their performances caused more than one scandal in their native Iceland. A wider audience could get to know them, be delighted or indignant, thanks to their performance at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

The band was founded in Reykjavik in 2015 by Klemens Hannigan, Matthias Tryggvi Haraldsson and drummer Einar Hrafn Stefánsson. Their music draws from electronics, punk and metal. Due to the performative nature of their activities, the dancers accompanying the musicians play an important role in the ensemble.

Hatari won the title of Artist of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards and is a three-time winner of “Live Act of the Year” at the Reykjavik Grapevine Music Awards. The group also won the prestigious Iceland Music News Music Video of the Year Award.

In 2020, they released their first full-length album, Neyslutrans.

The concert is organized as part of the “Direction: Iceland” review.
