The BitterSweet Festival returns to Poznań’s Citadel in August 2026, and this time it comes with a thunderous announcement. The first headliner is none other than Gorillaz, bringing their animated chaos and infectious grooves back to Poland for a single, exclusive show. The band led by Damon Albarn will open the festival on Thursday, 13 August, promising a night that blurs the line between sound, image, and revolution. Their new album “The Mountain” drops in March, featuring collaborations with Idles, Sparks, and late legends like Tony Allen and Mark E. Smith, so expect a setlist mixing the classics, “Clint Eastwood”, “Feel Good Inc.”, “Dare”, with brand new material fresh from Albarn’s creative volcano.
It’s a perfect match: the lush, open setting of the Citadel and the multi-dimensional world of Gorillaz. The group, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut, will transform Poznań into their own animated playground for one night of pulsing beats and vivid visuals. Fans still remember Albarn’s solo appearance at Malta Festival 2014, but this time the full Gorillaz experience is coming, bigger, louder, and far more ambitious.
After a successful debut in 2024, BitterSweet is shaping up to be the most vibrant new festival brand in Poland. Mixing global headliners with social projects, art installations, and mental health initiatives, it’s a celebration of music and community that lasts all year.
