Led by the charismatic Eugene Hütz, Gogol Bordello have spent more than two decades tearing down musical borders. Their unmistakable blend of punk rock, Roma traditions, Eastern European folk, ska, reggae and dub has earned them a devoted worldwide following. Their concerts are famous for their relentless energy, infectious rhythms and the sense that everyone in the room becomes part of one enormous travelling carnival.
The band’s music has always been about more than just having a good time. Their songs celebrate freedom, migration, identity and cultural diversity while never losing their sense of humour or irresistible party spirit. Whether you’ve followed them since “Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike” or discovered them through “Super Taranta!”, one thing remains constant: Gogol Bordello never play a safe show.
Opening the evening in Gdańsk will be Polish veterans Leniwiec, who join the tour for the Kraków, Gdańsk and Poznań dates. For more than twenty years, the Jelenia Góra outfit have been mixing rock, reggae, ska, folk and punk with accordion and trombone, creating a lively and melodic sound that fits perfectly alongside Gogol Bordello‘s musical philosophy.
Known for combining socially engaged lyrics with plenty of humour and tongue in cheek moments, Leniwiec have built a reputation as one of Poland’s most entertaining live acts. Their set should provide the perfect warm up before the headliners unleash their trademark gypsy punk explosion.
If you’ve never experienced Gogol Bordello live, this is one of those concerts that is impossible to appreciate from recordings alone. Their performances thrive on audience participation, dancing and an atmosphere where strangers quickly become friends.
