Finnish alt-metal trailblazers Luna Kills are making waves with the announcement of their highly anticipated debut album, “Deathmatch“, slated for release on April 4, 2025, via SharpTone Records. Known for their fiery mix of alternative and nu-metal, infused with electronic influences inspired by video game soundtracks, the band is rapidly solidifying their place in the modern metal scene.

Deathmatch” promises to deliver a blend of vulnerability and raw aggression. With unflinching honesty, the album explores the chaos and conflict within the human mind, echoing the band’s ability to transform personal struggles into sonic catharsis. The band’s vocalist, Lotta Ruutiainen, stands out with her dynamic range – from jazz-influenced melodies to powerful fry screams – creating a gripping auditory experience.

Singles Leading the Charge

The album’s buzz was first sparked by the release of their blistering single Slay Ur Enemies. This track, described as a visceral exploration of the emotions surrounding panic attacks, showcases Luna Kills‘ knack for marrying heavy riffs with darkly personal lyricism. Following this, their second single, Sugar Rush, follows the pursuit of fleeting joy amidst self-doubt and societal pressures. The band shared how the creative process of writing Sugar Rush became an outlet for confronting their own exhaustion and frustrations:

At the time, before we started writing “Sugar Rush”, we had been working on other songs for a long period of time and we felt really exhausted and after multiple failed attempts of trying to force ourselves to focus, we felt that we needed to reset our brain and mindset.
Sugar Rush” became a powerful outlet for all that we were going through, a way to channel exhaustion and frustration with the pressures of perfectionism and constant productivity. The creative process itself almost became a form of catharsis, a reset, allowing us to confront those feelings directly and then transform them into something meaningful.

From Finland to the World

Luna Kills, formed in 2019, has steadily gained momentum in the Finnish rock scene. Their energetic live performances – often described as moshpit-inducing and emotionally charged – have captivated audiences. Their international appeal was cemented with features in the mobile rhythm game Beatstar, a nod to their unique sound bridging music and gaming culture

With their upcoming album and support from SharpTone Records, Luna Kills is set to expand their reach far beyond Finland, connecting with global audiences eager for authentic and explosive alt-metal.
