In a surprising turn of events, Polish death metal band “Decapitated” has announced that long-time vocalist Rafał “Rasta” Piotrowski has officially stepped down after 14 years of fronting the band. Known for his powerful stage presence and vocal intensity, Rasta has been a significant driving force behind Decapitated since joining in 2009. His departure marks the end of an era for the band, which he has helped evolve over the years, especially as Decapitated became one of the leading acts in the global metal scene.
Reflecting on his time with the band, Rasta said in his farewell message:
“It was awesome to be a part of Decap and to see the band flourish over the years. I wish them all the best. To the best fans in the world—thank you for your enduring support. Your passion and energy has always been my fuel, and performing for you around the planet has been the greatest privilege of all. All the best and stay in touch!”
While the departure comes as bittersweet news for both the band and its fans, Decapitated has already made moves to ensure the future of their sound. In the same announcement, the band introduced their new vocalist, Eemeli Bodde, from Finland’s Mors Subita. Bodde is no stranger to the metal world, having worked on high-profile projects, including contributing to the soundtrack of the cult film Heavy Trip. Fans and critics alike are eager to see how his distinctive style will blend with Decapitated’s heavy, technical sound.
Bodde’s debut with Decapitated is scheduled for “A Night of Salvation” at the Damnation Festival in Manchester. Additionally, Decapitated will be joined on stage by their original vocalist, Wojciech “Sauron” Wąsowicz, for a special one-off performance where they will revisit iconic tracks from their early albums. This reunion promises to be a nostalgic moment for long-time fans, as Sauron’s contributions were key to shaping Decapitated’s formative years.
The band, which released their most recent album “Cancer Culture” in 2022, has undergone several lineup changes throughout its history. Despite the challenges, Decapitated has maintained its reputation for delivering aggressive, genre-defining death metal. Fans are optimistic that the addition of Bodde will inject new energy into the band’s future endeavors.
With this latest shift, Decapitated is once again poised to evolve its sound, marking the beginning of a new chapter.
