Premiering May 30, 2025, exclusively on Apple TV+, “Bono: Stories of Surrender” promises to be a groundbreaking cinematic experience, blending music, memory, and raw storytelling like never before. Directed by the visionary Andrew Dominik (Blonde, The Assassination of Jesse James), this new Apple Original documentary reimagines the U2 frontman’s powerful one-man show and offers an intimate look into the heart and soul of one of rock’s most iconic voices.
At the core of “Stories of Surrender” is a story not just about fame, music, or activism – but about being human. Based on Bono’s acclaimed 2022 memoir “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story“, the film captures the spirit of the original stage show, “An Evening of Words, Music and Some Mischief…”, where Bono explores the most formative moments of his life. With heart, humor, and humility, he recounts his evolution as a son, father, husband, rock star, and global humanitarian.
Accompanied by stripped-back renditions of U2 classics and supported by a talented trio of musicians – Kate Ellis, Gemma Doherty, and musical director Jacknife Lee – Bono brings his stories to life in a unique and immersive performance that speaks to fans and newcomers alike.
“Bono: Stories of Surrender” marks the first feature-length film presented in Apple Immersive Video, tailored for the Apple Vision Pro headset. Viewers will be placed inside the performance, surrounded by sound, story, and emotion, as if they were on stage with Bono himself.
Before hitting Apple TV+, the documentary will make its highly anticipated debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Its selection for Cannes underscores the film’s artistic depth and cinematic ambition.
Don’t miss its global premiere on May 30, only on Apple TV+.
